Our senior fitness program is aimed at our members aged 55+, who are looking for ways to incorporate physical fitness in their lives so that they can improve their flexibility and ease the symptoms of common, age-related conditions, like arthritis or osteoporosis. Many of our senior fitness classes take place in our aquatics center, which allows for low-impact workouts that are easy on the joints. But don’t be fooled – these workouts are also challenging and will help you lose weight and get stronger.

Some of our water-based classes include Aquacise, High Tide, and Stretch Fusion. We also love for our senior members to participate in our other classes, like Zumba, BodyStep, and yoga, to further their fitness goals.

Continuing to work out through your fifties, sixties, seventies, and even eighties is key to feeling great and slowing the process of aging so that you have all the energy you need to chase after your grandchildren.

Consistency is the Key!

Having a consistent workout routine is not solely for the young and fit among us; it’s something that people of every age need to do. This is because exercise, while it helps people lose weight and tone their bodies, offers many other benefits for our overall well-being. If you want to be able to chase after your grandchildren, handle daily tasks without the help of others, and spend less time at the doctor’s office and more time with your family, then it’s vitally important to work out regularly.

Here are some of the benefits that seniors can enjoy from exercise:

  • It can reduce mental decline, since exercise helps blood flow to all parts of the body, even the brain, causing new cells to grow.
  • It can improve balance and coordination, reducing the risk of falling and injuring yourself.
  • It can help to prevent certain age-related diseases, like diabetes and heart disease.

  • It can be a social outlet, allowing you to meet new people and form new connections.

The good news is, you don’t need to work out at a high intensity to see these benefits. Even ten minutes of activity a day can be helpful. Or you could try a group fitness class at The Workout Club, such as our aquatics classes that take place in our pool and are gentle on the joints. It ensures that, as you age, you can do so in a healthy manner and enjoy this time in your life, not spend it dealing with disease and injury. This allows you to spend more time with your family and friends, forming more memories. And there’s truly nothing more important than that.
